The Kansas Jayhawks finally received their March Madness bid as they are a part of the Midwest region. They are the No. 4 seed in a region headlined by the three teams ahead of them Purdue, Tennessee, and Creighton.

The Jayhawks are set to take on Samford in their first matchup.

Below is the tournament field.

Purdue (1) vs Montana State/Grambling State (16)

Utah State (8) vs TCU (9)

Gonzaga (5) vs McNeese (12)

Kansas (4) vs Samford (13)

South Carolina (6) vs Oregon (11)

Creighton (3) vs Akron (14)

Texas (7) vs Virginia/Colorado State (10)

Tennessee (2) vs Saint Peter’s (15)

Kansas lost their BIG 12 opener in the tournament which put them out as a whole. The game was against the Cincinnati Bearcats in which not only was Kevin McCullar Jr. out but star big man Hunter Dickinson was as well. I bet you can guess how that game ended.

The Bearcats destroyed the Jayhawks 72-52 in the end.

Flash forward to selection day and the Jayhawks still receive a fairly good seed. However, their path to the final four isn’t exactly ideal with them having Samford then the winner of Gonzaga, and a tournament sleeper in McNeese as they are one of few teams to win 30+ games on the season.

The Jayhawks will need big days out of a lot of their players moving forward as it is now win or go home. A healthy squad will be key to success for the Jayhawks as despite their unnatural fourth seeding they are still one of the most talented teams in the nation as they always are.

The Good: The March Bid

The Bad: Tough round two regardless if they can win round one

The Ugly: Was hopeful for a higher seed
