College Football Games to Watch, Week 8

In this story:
With no Kansas football this week, we here at Games to Watch headquarters are assuming that you’ll have plenty of time to devote to watching college football on TV. This week, we’re offering the best game (hopefully) from each of the Power 5 conferences.
7 Penn State at 3 Ohio State, 11:00AM, Fox
The Big Ten gives us the marquee game of the weekend in the early time slot. This is the game that will determine whether Penn State is for real or not, having only played non-con cupcakes and bottom tier Big Ten competition so far. This game at the Horseshoe against the Buckeyes will certainly have Big Ten championship implications as well as College Football Playoff ramifications. The eyes of all college football fans will be squarely on Columbus to get the weekend started right.
17 Tennessee at 11 Alabama, 2:30 PM, CBS
The best midday action is in the SEC where Tennessee will test its mettle against Alabama down in Tuscaloosa. The Volunteers head south in a game where they are nearly 10 point underdogs and if they pull off the upset, it will improve their chances in the competitive SEC East while throwing a wrench into the SEC West standings.
TCU at Kansas State, 6:00 PM, ESPN2
With no matchups between ranked teams, the best Big XII matchup of the week is in Manhattan. This all-purple battle is crucial to both sides as they try to scale the standings in the increasingly competitive Big XII. Will K-State go with the tried and true in veteran QB Will Howard or will they pick up where they left off in the win against Texas Tech and let freshman Avery Johnson take the helm? Likely, it will be determined by what the TCU defense allows the Wildcats to do (or not do). Should be interesting either way.
16 Duke at 4 Florida State, 6:30 PM, ABC
If you want ranked teams, the ACC has you covered a half hour later. Considering that Florida State doesn’t have highly ranked North Carolina on their schedule, this game is a monster. Beat Duke, and the Seminoles, barring a meltdown, will be playing in the conference title game. Las Vegas loves the Seminoles too, as they start as 14 point favorites against the one-loss Blue Devils.
14 Utah at 18 USC, 7:00 PM, Fox
This game has lost some shine after USC got waxed last weekend, but it’s still a matchup of ranked teams in the Pac-12 so we’ll take it. Soon to be Big XII member Utah will be right back in the Pac-12 title race with a win over the Trojans while USC can take a commanding lead in the conference if they stay undefeated in league play.
