Game Primer: How to Watch, Things to Know for UCF at Kansas

Everything you need to get ready as the Jayhawks host the Knights in conference play.

The Kansas Jayhawks held on for a half against the Texas Longhorns last week, but a missing starting quarterback and some lack of consistency on offense gave Texas all the ammo they needed to break through a bend-but-don't-break defense. Today will be an opportunity to get back on track, as they welcome the UCF Knights to town. With an offense without the physical talent of the Longhorns and a defense that has plenty of holes of their own, we'll get a better idea of where Kansas fits on the second tier.

Kansas dropped out of the polls this week after their loss to the Longhorns but are still receiving votes in both polls. UCF was receiving votes earlier in the year, but have fallen out of poll contention entirely with two straight losses to start Big 12 play.

This is the first time that these two teams have ever faced each other, and the Knights are still looking for their first win in the Big 12.

Fun Facts

Two Jayhawk greats will be inducted into the Ring of Honor this weekend. Tony Sands, a running back with Kansas from 1988-1991, and Nick Reid, a linebacker with Kansas from 2002-2005, will be the 24th and 25th members when they join on Saturday.

The Jayhawks are looking to build on their defensive effort against BYU, where they turned two turnovers into touchdowns. They are tied for fourth nationally and first in the Big 12.

The Jayhawks have only allowed 17 sacks since the start of 2022, and five this season. They are on pace for two straight seasons averaging 1.0 sacks per game or less.
