Kansas Jayhawk Fan Viewing Guide - Week 4

In this story:
It's another week full of non-stop action, which means that you might need some help selecting some games among a huge number of choices.
With that in mind, we have a primer for the Kansas Football fan. A full slate of action that you can turn on that will whet that football appetite but also be relevant to your rooting interests. We'll pick a main game for the big TV, and then a second one for flipping during commercials or to stick on that laptop/tablet/second TV that we all know is sitting right there. While I'm assuming you will be watching (or attending) the Kansas game, there are still some interesting games to make sure you at least follow on your phone.
All game times below are Central. All odds courtesy of SI Sportsbook.
Thursday
West Virginia Mountaineers @ Virginia Tech Hokies
Location: Lane Stadium, Blacksburg, VA
Game Time: Thursday, Sept 22nd at 6:30pm
TV Channel: ESPN
Live Stream: fuboTV (Start your free trial)
Line: WVU -2.0
O/U: 49.5
Why Jayhawk fans should watch:
It's an opportunity to find out if Kansas beat a decent team on the road or if the wheels have completely fallen off in Morgantown. Virginia Tech is looking to get some revenge against a team that beat them last season, and show that the 2-1 start wasn't just due to weak opponents.
Friday
Virginia Cavaliers @ Syracuse Orange
Location: JMA Wireless Dome, Syracuse, NY
Game Time: Friday, Sept 23rd at 6:30pm
TV Channel: ESPN
Live Stream: fuboTV (Start your free trial)
Line: SYR -10.0
O/U: 53.5
Why Jayhawk fans should watch:
It's another surprise 3-0 team in action starting conference play. Can Syracuse keep their impressive start going, or will they dream season come back down to earth against an opponent widely regarded as inferior?
Early Saturday
If you aren't one of the 47,000+ attending the game in person, then you will undoubtedly be watching the Jayhawks take on the Blue Devils. But there are still games you should keep an eye on, or at least stick them on a second screen somewhere.
Baylor Bears @ Iowa State Cyclones
Location: Jack Trice Stadium, Ames, IA
Game Time: Saturday, Sept 24th at 11am
TV Channel: ESPN2
Live Stream: fuboTV (Start your free trial)
Line: ISU -2.5
O/U: 45.5
Why Jayhawk fans should watch:
Both of these defenses have been pretty good this season, but Baylor struggled with a BYU team that was missing their top two receivers, and Iowa State has yet to play a solid offense. This will give Kansas a preview on some upcoming opponents.
And besides the defenses, both offenses have some legitimate questions, whether it's Blake Shapen underperforming expectations or Hunter Dekkers still working to build some chemistry with his top receivers. The only good defense the Cyclones have faced was Iowa's, and they did not look impressive in that game at all.
TCU Horned Frogs @ Southern Methodist Mustangs
Location: Gerald J. Ford Stadium, Dallas, TX
Game Time: Saturday, Sept 24th at 11am
TV Channel: ESPNU
Live Stream: fuboTV (Start your free trial)
Line: TCU -2.0
O/U: 70.5
Why Jayhawk fans should watch:
I promise I didn't just pick all the Big 12 games. This is a legitimate opportunity to see if TCU's fantastic start was because they faced the absolute worst Power 5 team this season (Colorado) or because they actually have a good team this season.
Expect a lot of emotion in this one as TCU Head Coach Sonny Dykes returns to his prior employer for a highly anticipated rivalry game.
Honorable Mention: Clemson Tigers at Wake Forest Demon Deacons
Sat Afternoon
Texas Longhorns @ Texas Tech Red Raiders
Location: Jones AT&T Stadium, Lubbock, TX
Game Time: Saturday, Sept 24th at 2:30pm
TV Channel: ESPN
Live Stream: fuboTV (Start your free trial)
Line: UT -7
O/U: 61.5
Why Jayhawk fans should watch:
These games are literally drama packed, and there are plenty of opportunities for fireworks in this one.
Texas is working through the loss of Quinn Ewers for at least another week or two with a hobbled Hudson Card, and Texas Tech is trying to see if they can limit the turnovers for QB Donovan Smith, who took over after a Tyler Shough injury. Both these teams have an opportunistic defense, so it will be a matter of who gets the most opportunities.
Florida Gators @ Tennessee Volunteers
Location: Neyland Stadium, Knoxville, TN
Game Time: Saturday, Sept 24th at 2:30pm
TV Channel: CBS
Live Stream: fuboTV (Start your free trial)
Line: TEN -11.0
O/U: 62.0
Why Jayhawk fans should watch:
This the game that stole College Gameday and that is reason enough to hate-watch this. I don't think this will be a particularly good game, which means ESPN will get all the boost of setting up in an SEC town without the downside of a disappointing game.
But given that they refused to flex the App State game that they attended last week to an actual channel, I'm not surprised that they messed this one up so badly. So let's all enjoy a miserable game so we can tell ESPN just how stupid they were for not coming to Lawrence.
Honorable Mention: Oregon Ducks at Washington State
Sat Evening
Wisconsin Badgers @ Ohio State Buckeyes
Location: Ohio Stadium, Columbus, OH
Game Time: Saturday, Sept 24th at 6:30pm
TV Channel: ABC
Live Stream: fuboTV (Start your free trial)
Line: OSU -19.0
O/U: 57.0
Why Jayhawk fans should watch:
I'm really scraping the bottom of the barrel for this one, as it's difficult to find a game that will actually be enjoyable to watch. At the very least, this one is theoretically going to give us an idea of how good Ohio State actually is.
But this is probably going to be one of the most competitive games in the slot, which isn't very promising for those who aren't going to be out celebrating another big Kansas win.
Kansas State Wildcats @ Oklahoma Sooners
Location: DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium, Austin, TX
Game Time: Saturday, Sept 24th at 7pm
TV Channel: FOX
Live Stream: fuboTV (Start your free trial)
Line: OU -13.0
O/U: 53.0
Why Jayhawk fans should watch:
Kansas State looked AWFUL against Tulane, so why should we watch this? For the KSU defense. This will be the first legitimately good defense that Dillon Gabriel will face this season. If he can rack up some points against this defense, then we might as well just give Oklahoma the Big 12 championship.
Honorable Mention: Arkansas Razorbacks at Texas A&M Aggies
Sat Late Night
USC Trojans @ Oregon State Beavers
Location: Reser Stadium, Corvallis, OR
Game Time: Saturday, Sept 24th at 8:30pm
TV Channel: PAC12
Live Stream: fuboTV (Start your free trial)
Line: USC -5.5
O/U: 70.5
Why Jayhawk fans should watch:
It's tough to know whether Oregon State is for real, but this should be a good test. USC has been electric under new head coach Lincoln Riley and new quarterback Caleb Williams, but the Beavers are at least getting some respect.
Expect a high-scoring back and forth game, which is the perfect way to cap off the night.
Honorable Mention: None. The rest of these games are going to be awful.
