Talk about people paying attention to the Kansas Jayhawks. The Big 12 Conference released the kickoff times and broadcast channels for Week 4 of the season. Lance Leipold's squad opens up conference play on national television.

It is the third time that the Jayhawks will play on ESPN since Leipold came to Lawrence. The first was an October 23, 2021 game against Oklahoma and the second was the Liberty Bowl last season against Arkansas.

It will be the first ever Big 12 conference game for the BYU Cougars and a final tuneup for the Jayhawks before they travel down to Austin to take on the Texas Longhorns.

Other gametimes across the conference are below:

  • Cincinnati Bearcats vs Oklahoma Sooners: 11am on FOX
  • TCU Horned Frogs vs SMU Mustangs: 11am on FS1
  • Iowa State Cyclones vs Oklahoma State Cowboys: 3pm on FS1
  • West Virginia Mountaineers vs Texas Tech Red Raiders: 3:30pm on ESPN+
  • Houston Cougars vs Sam Houston Bearkats: 6pm on ESPN+
  • Baylor Bears vs Texas Longhorns: 6:30pm on ABC
  • Kansas State Wildcats vs UCF Knights: 7pm on FS1

Say what you will about the 2:30 timeslot, but it is one of the premier timeslots for ESPN programming on Saturday, as normally some mid-tier SEC games are in this spot. The game will go up against Ole Miss at Alabama at the same time over on CBS, but the national draw of a brand in BYU in their first conference game and the intrigue of a rising Kansas team should turn this into a decently-watched game.

The result of this game, both on the field and in living rooms, will go a long way to determining how often the Jayhawks will get these time slots the rest of the year.
