2024 Specialist Jacob Kauwe Commits to Kentucky

The 2024 recruiting class continues to grow for Kentucky football and head coach Mark Stoops.

After adding 3-star interior offensive lineman Jadon Lafontant on Monday, the Wildcats added another recruit to the class on Tuesday in kicker/punter Jacob Kauwe:

Kauwe was offered a scholarship during his visit to Lexington last week and opted to commit soon after. He hails from Billings, Mont. and is now the sixth member of UK's '24 class.

New special teams coordinator Jay Boulware has added a big leg to the room. Kauwe is rated as a 5-star kicker and punter, per Kohl's Kicking:

"His leg strength is unique and as strong as some in the NFL. Kauwe still needs refinement with his hands in punting and improvement on his repeatability on field goals. Kauwe is a very intriguing player to follow this summer. He competed in March 2023 at the Spring Ranking Event. He graded out at the 5-star level as both a kicker and punter. We feel he is a D1 prospect at both positions. His leg strength is exceptional. Kauwe is from a state that is not highly recruited but he has the tools to compete with anyone in the country. He was able to kick multiple 80 yard kick-offs on the windy day. His ball striking is also impressive as he made 12/15 points on field goals. His punting was also outstanding as he hit a 70 yard punt with 4.4 seconds of hang-time."

Kentucky recently added placekicker Alex Raynor from Georgia Southern in the transfer portal. He'll compete with fifth-year senior Chance Poore and redshirt freshman Jackson Smith for the kicking job, while sophomore Wilson Berry is expected to handle the punting in 2023.

Kauwe could easily be a force in the special teams room once he arrives on campus ahead of the 2024 season.
