4-Star Tight End Damarion Witten Commits to Ohio State Over Kentucky, Others

Witten took an official visit to UK in June, but opted to stay close to home in Ohio.

Kentucky football did some damage on the recruiting trail this week, but a big name on the class of 2024 board committed elsewhere on Saturday.

Damarion Witten, a 4-star tight end out of Glenville High School in Cleveland, has opted to stay close to home, committing to Ohio State over Kentucky, Oregon, Penn State and others.

Kentucky was the only other school besides OSU to host Witten on an official visit. The Buckeyes had the tight end on campus six times and did enough to beat out UK recruiting coordinator Vince Marrow for the in-state blue-chipper.

Witten is the No. 353 overall player, No. 23 TE and No. 12 player in Ohio, per the On3 Consensus.

The Wildcats added a class of '24 tight end earlier in the week, as in-state 3-star Willie Rodriguez pledged, joining 3-star interior offensive lineman Jadon Lafontant, kicker/punter specialist Jacob Kauwe and 3-star running back Tovani Mizell as recruits who picked Kentucky in the few-day span.

Kentucky enters the final week of June with nine hard commits in its '24 class, headlined by 4-star quarterback Cutter Boley.
