The Kansas State Wildcats baseball team (19-10, 4-5 Big 12) will host a three-game weekend series against Big 12 rival TCU.

Since 1968, the two programs have met 51 times. Kansas State and TCU are very familiar with each other. TCU has the edge in the all-time series with 34 wins. The Wildcats won the last matchup 10-2 on February 23, 2025.

In that game, the Wildcats scored four runs in the fifth inning and five in the seventh. Lincoln Sheffield was the starter for the Wildcats. He was masterful by tossing seven complete innings. The left-hander allowed just one run and only gave up five hits. Shiffield earned his first win of the season at the time. It was a great outing by Sheffield, who recorded a season-high eight strikeouts.

As for the offense, they didn't stay behind. They gave Sheffield enough run support. Kansas State's offense was lights out in two-out situations. Six of the Wildcats 12 runs came with two outs. Shortstop Maximus Martin and infielder Shintaro Inoue led the Wildcats offense with their hitting. Both players went 3-for-5, combining for three runs scored and four RBIs.

TCU's outfielder sophomore Sawyer Strosnider leads the team in many categories, such as batting average (.333), OPS (1.235), hits (33), home runs (10), and RBIs (41). The Wildcats have to keep a close eye on him. This is their best hitter in the lineup.

He's proving that his freshman season was not a fluke. Strosnider became just the fourth player in the NCAA since 2002 to post a season quadruple-double (13 doubles, 10 triples, 11 home runs, 10 stolen bases).

Kansas State's junior infielder Dee Kennedy is a good competition to Strosnider in this series. It's going to be a fun battle watching these great hitters go at it this weekend. Kennedy is the best hitter for the Wildcats this season. Kennedy is slashing .442/1.529 OPS with 14 homers, 48 RBIs, to go with 46 hits and 11 doubles. He has played all 29 games this season.

In addition, Kennedy was recently named to the inaugural Midseason Player of the Year Watch List by Baseball America. His consistency has been rewarded and continues to stack his baseball resume.

Infielder redshirt senior Carlos Vazquez is hitting .374 with a 1.096 with 6 home runs, 40 RBIs, 26 runs, and 37 hits.

Kansas State is entering this series after dominating BYU on Tuesday by scoring 16 runs. Six Wildcats went deep in the game. The team scored 10 runs in the first five innings.

The first game between the Wildcats and the Horned Frogs begins on Friday at 6 pm. Saturday at 4 pm, and Sunday at 1 pm. All three games will stream on ESPN+.
