LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Head coach Pat Kelsey's is adding an assistant with some head coaching experience to his staff at Louisville for next season.

John Andrzejek, who is currently the head coach at Campbell, has been hired to be the associate head coach for the Cardinals, the Camels announced Wednesday.

It's Kelsey's first hire this offseason after seeing a couple of his longtime assistants head elsewhere. Assistant coach Thomas Carr left Louisville for a similar role at Indiana, while Executive Director of Player Personnel and Strategic Initiatives Brian Kloman departed to become the general manager at Auburn.

Andrzejek spent just one season as the head coach at Campbell, taking over the Camels following two seasons on Todd Golden's staff at Florida. Campbell went 16-18 overall and 8-10 in Coastal Athletic Association play during his lone season at the helm. Despite being the No. 9 seed in the CAA Tournament, the Camels made it to the semifinals before falling to Monmouth.

Andrzejek played an instrumental role in helping Florida win the 2025 national championship in his second and final year with the Gators. As UF's defensive specialist on staff, he helped Florida post the sixth-best defense in D1 hoops with a 91.8 adjusted defensive efficiency per KenPom - which was up from 94th the season before. They went 36-4 overall, culminating with a 65-63 takedown of Houston in the title game.

Florida also saw success when Andrzejek's first arrived in Gainesville. During the 2023-24 season, the Gators went 24-12, reaching the NCAA Tournament for the first time in three years. Overall, UF went 60-16 in Andrzejek's two seasons on staff.

Prior to his time at Florida, Andrzejek spent four season out west as an assistant on Kyle Smith's staff at Washington State. The Cougars went 30-29 in his first two seasons, followed by a 39-32 record in his last two - including a 22-18 record in Pac-12 play. Just one year into his tenure with Wazzu, he was named to ESPN's 40 under 40, which ranks the top assistant coaches under 40-years-old.

Andrzejek also spent the 2018-19 season as a assistant at Dartmouth, and the 2017-18 at Johns Hopkins.

On the heels of a very successful year one under head coach Pat Kelsey, year two for Louisville was up-and-down and overall a slight disappointment. The Cardinals had legitimate preseason Final Four aspirations and were ranked as high as No. 6 in the nation, but ultimately finished the season at 24-11 overall. UofL was able to win their first NCAA Tournament game since 2017 with a first round takedown of USF, before ultimately falling to Michigan State in the next round.
