In this story:

There have been many accolades for former Miami Hurricane Calais Campbell since he entered the National Football League.

To begin, he was a 2008 second round selection by the Arizona Cardinals. It did not take long for him to start making a name for himself. His second season in Phoenix saw him record 48 tackles and seven sacks. He’s been a force ever since, and he’s been recognized several times.

The 2017 season, his first with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Campbell won first-team All-Pro as he recorded 67 tackles and 14.5 sacks. In 2019, he was the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year and also won the Bart Starr Award; Campbell was also placed on the NFL’s 2010’s All-Decade Team.

The list of Campbell’s awards have been immense. He’s one of the most accomplished NFL players of his time. He’s even been dominant off the field, too.

Campbell has been best known for sacking NFL quarterbacks and creating havoc at and behind the line of scrimmage. That fact aside, Campbell’s character and good sportsmanship would be primary factors for why he won the awards attached to famous NFL names like Payton and Starr, as well as having just won the Rooney.

Football has been a violent game. It will continue to be so. For a man with Campbell’s physical prowess to also show consistently great temperament and disposition, while still attempting to dominate the player across from him, has been extraordinary.

Congratulations to Campbell. He’s been a tremendous football player going back to his days at South High School in Denver, through his time at the University of Miami, and with each of the Cardinals, Jaguars and now Baltimore Ravens.
