It has become customary for college football programs to bring in numerous types of guest speakers during spring football practices.

The Miami Hurricanes will be no different during head coach Mario Cristobal’s second set of spring practices with the University of Miami.

A coaching clinic brings in coaches from all over the prep ranks – and sometimes beyond – to watch and learn from some of the best in the field of football coaching.

It’s a meeting of the minds, if one will. Defensive ends coach Jason Taylor recently retweeted about one of the guests, an intriguing young football coach not only in South Florida, but across the NFL as well.

Bringing in Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel will be great for everyone in the room when he takes to the microphone.

The former ball boy for the Denver Broncos has been determined to be a NFL football coach. He worked his way through the coaching ranks after walking on at Yale as a wide receiver.

He’s worked with several NFL franchises prior to coming to Miami as the head coach of the Dolphins in 2022, including the then Washington Redskins (2005; 2011-2012), Denver Broncos (2006-2008), Cleveland Browns (2014), Atlanta Falcons (2015-2016), and San Francisco 49ers (2017-2021).

McDaniel has exemplified the words and phrases like determination, work ethic, and having a plan. Through his success, McDaniel has been associated with NFL coaches like Kyle Shanahan, Gary Kubiak, and Mike Sherman. All of his chances to absorb information from them and others needed to be shared.

That’s why it’s vital that coaches like McDaniel have found a way to give back – many of which will be Dade County high school coaches that literally mentor players that people reading this article call their sons – to the local Miami-area communities that hold football in such high regard.

The Dolphins began as a NFL franchise back in 1970 when the AFL finally merged with the NFL. The pro franchise has been a major staple for South Floridians since even before that merger, and it’s great that McDaniel will be further helping the community through the collaboration with the Hurricanes football program, another staple with South Florida culture.

The March 25 coaches clinic has keynote speaker Greg Olsen, the former great Miami tight end that produced a very successful NFL career and has now transitioned to the broadcasting booth with Fox Sports. On March 26, McDaniel will be speaking as that day’s keynote speaker.
