Chris Wheatley-Humphrey has made a pledge to join Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes.

He became Miami’s fifth public verbal commitment of the 2024 cycle, joining quarterback Judd Anderson, wide receiver Chance Robinson, defensive back Dylan Day, and kicker Abraham Murray.

Wheatley-Humphrey was also the fourth verbal commitment for UM since Anderson made his decision public on April 7; the Canes have been one of the nation's hottest recruiting teams.

The 6-foot and 180-pound running back has been a primary target of Mario Cristobal and his coaching staff for quite some time, and the effort paid off.

Wheatley-Humphrey had offers from Miami, Florida State, UCF, FIU, Ole Miss, Georgia Tech, Syracuse, Louisville, Cincinnati, Maryland, SMU, Marshall, and Tulane among others.

When combining his talent to other Broward County talents like 2023 running back signees Chris Johnson from Dillard and Mark Fletcher from American Heritage, running backs coach Tim Harris, Jr. will have a plethora of talent to work with moving forward.

The name of the game for Wheatley-Humphrey has been speed. He was a dynamic player for Dania Beach (Fla.) South Broward this past season. He rushed for 1,166 yards from only 70 carries.

He’s shown the ability to make defenders miss in the hole and then hit the gas to run away from defenders. That speed will soon represent the Orange and Green.

Wheatley-Humphrey gains more experience and moves on to Miami, expect him to be a dynamic player running the football, as well as catching it, too. He will be a one-on-one matchup problem for opposing linebackers and defensive backs.
