Not every recruit the Miami Hurricanes sign is a household name. That point does not mean there is a lack of talent. This next Miami signee has a unique story and is one of the nation's fastest-rising recruits.

Cole McConathy

Size: 6-feet-5, 230 pounds

Position: Defensive End

High School: Spanish Fort (Ala.) High School

Recruitment: McConathy made his original commitment to Louisville before flipping his decision to Miami. The way he dominated during his senior season is why so many teams like Miami came calling. In total, McConathy finished the year with 24.5 sacks and led the state of Alabama.

Strengths: Speed-to-power moves. He explodes off the snap of the football and dictates to the offensive lineman. McConathy's quick hands are also consistently helping him defeat offensive tackles when he goes after the quarterback. To see his explosiveness, check out the following video where he jumps out of a pool of water and onto a pool deck:

Area to Improve: McConathy needs to learn the nuances of the defensive end position because he's so new to it. With Miami's Jason Taylor, there's no question that McConathy will have a great mentor.

Whatever McConathy does, he goes all-out. Looking closely at his frame, it's easy to project him as a defensive end within a 4-3 scheme at the next level. That's something Lance Guidry and Miami operate but also use a variation of three-man lines where there's a standup outside linebacker as well. McConathy will fit into either spot and do well.

McConathy has the physical tools to be a tremendous college football player. Not even four years into playing defensive end, let's see how good he can be in a Miami uniform.
