UPDATE - What's Next For Moga, Miami QB Recruiting?

In this story:
8 p.m. update: It appeared that Oregon had backed off of Luke Moga. Perhaps not?

Trying to keep up with 17-year olds can be difficult to begin with, but the Oregon Ducks did not make this any easier either. There has not been much information since that post, but keep in mind that recruiting in 2023 has been and will probably continue to be fluid.
Perhaps Oregon believes Michael Van Buren will be too hard to pull from Penn State, or maybe it's that the Ducks just want Moga, or perhaps both. One thing was for sure from this that it's difficult to project what's next.
It's hard to say where this placed Miami with Moga, just for starters. Oregon will have its spring game this weekend so there will not be long to wait and see what the young quarterback says about his trek to Eugene, Ore.
One of the Miami Hurricanes top quarterback targets for the 2024 recruiting cycle, Luke Moga had already set an announcement date of April 28. Well, that decision recently changed and now he does not even have a date set for his announcement, per this report.
Prior to Moga’s announcement, the prevailing thought process was that Oregon was the leader in the clubhouse for Phoenix (Ariz.) Sunnyslope quarterback.
So where does this mean for Miami?
After the Jaden Rashada saga ended with him enrolling at Arizona State, Miami will once again take its swings at signing two prep signal callers within the class of 2024.
Of course Miami already landed a commitment from strong-armed Judd Anderson from Gray (Ga.) Jones County. So, one talented signal caller has already been added to the recruiting class. Finding a second swings the discussion back towards Moga.
As Moga’s decision relates to the Hurricanes, quarterback coach and offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson will now have more time to recruit him. With Dawson operating his own version of the air raid, in which he’s more than happy to let his quarterback run, Moga would be a really good fit. Check out his speed here:

Last season as Houston’s offensive coordinator, Dawson operated an offense that allowed quarterback Clayton Tune to rush for 546 yards, 4.3 yards per carry and 5 rushing scores. With those numbers in mind, it made sense for Dawson and the Canes to go after Moga.
His film also showed him juking out defenders and moving the pocket to buy time. He’s a true dual-threat signal caller. Combining those skills – and Moga's verified 10.7 100 meter speed – with the air raid would be intriguing.

Further, fellow 2024 signal caller Michael Van Buren will be visiting Oregon for its spring game on April 29. Perhaps the Ducks will be the primary competitor for Van Buren. He’s been considered a Penn State lean.
Bottom line, Moga stepping back from his commitment possibly helped Mario Cristobal, Dawson, and Miami's chances of landing the talented prospect. Going to be interesting to see what happens next.
