Spartan Nation has been able to confirm that five prospects (3 uncommitted) will be taking their official visits to Michigan State this weekend.

When you look at this weekend combined with last weekend, you can see that the Spartan coaching staff has put the defensive line as their first priority.

The two committed prospects that will be on campus this weekend are:

Jeremy Langford – RB – Wayne, MI

Isaiah Lewis – S – Indianapolis, IN

The three uncommitted prospects are all defensive lineman.

Rashad Frazier – 6’6 225 – DE – Middletown, OH - Frazier is a speed-rush end. His 40 has been timed in the 4.6’s. He uses his long arms well to shed blocks in the running game and swat down balls in the passing game.  Has good size and strength and will compete will the rest of the DE’s in this class for playing time. If he ends up redshirting, it will be a very good thing because that will show what kind of talent is in front of him.

Leterrius Walton - 6’5 285 – DE – Clinton Township, MI – Walton may be the most under-the-radar prospect so far in this class.  He acts as an enforcer coming off the edge.  He lacks the speed to chase down a runner who gets to the outside, but uses his brute strength to blow plays up in the backfield and prevent runners from getting to the edge. Will be in the exact same situation as Frazier, competing for playing time, but not a bad thing if he redshirts.

Anthony White – 6’2 315 – DT – Fort Scott, KS – White could be the first Junior College prospect that this staff has signed since they have been at Michigan State.  He is originally from Battle Creek, MI and would come in as a sophomore. He is a very strong player who shuts down the middle of the line.  The year at JC has helped him tremendously in all aspects of the game.  He will come in and give immediate depth and playing time to the DT position.

Since Last Time: Spartan Nation has been able to confirm that 2011 prospect, Tony Springmann – OT – 6’7 250 – Fort Wayne, IN – has received an official offer from Michigan State. Springmann needs to add weight in his senior year, but he will be one of the highest rated Offensive Lineman in the Midwest.

Looking Ahead: In the February edition of Spartan Nation magazine we will be observing the 2011 recruiting class. We will do our best to address all your questions about both this class and next year’s class. In particular the question “Why are we not going after JC defensive backs, or very many defensive backs for that matter?”
