BREAKING: Michigan State flips in-state 2024 linebacker target

The Spartans end a drought on the recruiting trail, flipping an in-state linebacker target from Portage Northern...

Inside of an hour before Michigan State is scheduled to kick off it's Week 2 game against Richmond, the Spartans scored a win on the recruiting trail for their 2024 class.

Three-star Portage (Mich.) Northern linebacker Jadyn Walker announced on Saturday that he was flipping his commitment from Toledo to the Spartans after receiving an offer from defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Scottie Hazelton.

Walker, a 6-foot-3 and 205-pounder, originally committed to the Rockets back on June 25. He is in East Lansing visiting Michigan State today, but he made his decision before the Spartans even took the field this afternoon. Walker is considered the No. 1204 overall player, No. 105 linebacker and No. 22 player from the state of Michigan in the 2024 class, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

With the addition of Walker, Michigan State ends a two-month long drought in the '24 recruiting cycle. The Spartans last commitment prior to Walker was a big one in four-star River Rouge (Mich.) wide receiver Nick Marsh back on July 7.

MSU had a strong summer of recruiting, landing four-star running back Anthony Carrie, three-star quarterback Henry Hasselbeck, three-star defensive backs Reggie Powers, Justin Denson, Syair Torrence and Camren Campbell, and three-star offensive linemen Mercer and Charlton Luniewski, in addition to Marsh, over a five-week stretch.

The Spartans had previously earned pledges from three-star cornerback Jaylen Thompson three-star offensive linemen Andrew Dennis and Logan Barnett, which brings the class up to 13 commitments. Michigan State's 2024 class is now ranked No. 49 in the country.
