Setting Benchmark of Success for MSU's Alessio Milivojevic

The Spartans have a lot to look forward to, and one of them is their growing QB.

The Spartans are on the fast track to success, at least that’s what the team is hoping for after an offseason full of changes with the players and coaches.

The only way to find out if they are successful will be through experience gained by playing games, which could lead to monstrous upsets and even bowl game success.

However, there is one thing more important than the direct results of this season: the growth of its players who will be staying with the program for some time to come, especially the ones who fly under the radar.

But MSU's most important player to watch, who could be more important than the direct result of this season, is none other than the possibly most important player next year, Alessio Milivojevic.

Why Milivojevic Stands Above Record This Season

  • To avoid misunderstanding, the record the team attains this season will be incredibly important to the future of the coaching staff and many transfer players. A good record could be a great sign for the future.
  • However, the Spartans are not expected to be a powerhouse this season, not yet. In that case, when a championship or something similar is not expected, getting to that point is the next best thing.

  • Some players on this year’s roster are here this year and will have to be gone next year. Every senior without eligibility left falls into that category, such as major transfer Cam Edwards.
  • Milivojevic, though, does not fall into that category, as he will have multiple years left in East Lansing at his disposal, and he will be the earliest possible candidate available to lead MSU on a deep run to the playoffs and greater glory.

Setting the Benchmark for His Success

  • Milivojevic was already a great passer last year, averaging around 250 passing yards per game when he started, and he needs to reach that mark again, or even improve.
  • But more than that, he must get going on his legs, because he was running backward more than forward last year, which led to his finishing the season with negative yards and a rushing style that hurt the team more often than it helped it.

  • If he can not only keep his rushing yards in the positives but also bring big plays that spark the offense’s momentum while also keeping his passing game at its peak, then his season can be considered a monumental success.
