Mississippi State baseball (17-13, 1-8) has officially achieved its first conference win of the 2023 season with 13-3 win over seven innings against the No. 9-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks, but has still yet to win its first SEC series.

Next up on the schedule, they will face the Alabama Crimson Tide (22-8, 3-6) as SEC play continues. The Bulldogs come into this one on a high note after taking down the Grambling State Tigers, 21-2 in Starkville.

Alabama also bounced back in its most recent outing, defeating the Troy Trojans, 10-2 after losing the three-game series to the No. 6-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks last weekend.

How things shake out between two squads that have had consistency issues in 2023 will be something to keep an eye on, with first pitch set for 5 p.m. CT in Tuscaloosa, Alabama for Game 1.
