It's clear that Mississippi State is learning and growing, but the Bulldogs still just couldn't pull it off against Vanderbilt as they were swept in a series that ended in an 11-7 loss on Sunday..

The main thing MSU needs to focus on this week in practice its  pitching.

MSU still does not have a consistent pitching lineup. While players like Jurrangelo Cijintje Landon Gartman, and KC Hunt have had their time starting strong on the diamond, they are quickly losing their momentum and making rookie mistakes.

The pitching rotation will continue to change within the next series if coach Lemonis can't find consistency, and if the pitchers don't show consistency. Unfortunately, it's just too late in the season to still be figuring this out. The season rotation should have been set at the first conference game.

Next, coaching abilities and work need to be looked at. The talent is there. Playing for any school in the Southeastern Conference is a big deal. These teams do recruit random prospects. These players have been playing for years and are looking to perform at the next level.

However, if the coaches are failing to get their players to perform better and win games, then it's obviously not the players fault. There has to be other factors as to why the Bulldogs are struggling.

Something to know about this series is that MSU was simply unfairly matched. MSU allowed 55 runs by Vanderbilt throughout this series. Vanderbilt has yet to lose a conference game this season and has the highest conference batting average.

While MSU is 0-6 conference, they were at a disadvantage for having Vanderbilt scheduled against them this weekend. The Bulldogs are clearly not a good enough team to play other teams like the Commodores and will have to show massive improvement to contend in the conference at all this season.

If MSU continues to have inconsistency in pitching and coaching, then it's very unlikely that the season will get any brighter this far in.
