Notre Dame Women's Basketball Remains No. 10 In Weekly Coaches Poll

In this story:
A day after falling out of the top 10 in the AP women’s college basketball rankings, the Notre Dame women’s basketball team remains ranked No. 10 in this week’s USA Today Coaches Poll. The Fighting Irish (25-5) have held the No. 10 for five consecutive weeks.
The Fighting Irish are among five top 10 teams in the poll that lost before advancing to the championship game of their conference tournament last week. They had their seven-game winning streak snapped with a loss to Louisville in the ACC Tournament semifinals after beating NC State a day earlier.
The top two spots in this week’s coaches poll remain unchanged. Defending national champion South Carolina (32-0) remains No. 1 after going 3-0 and winning the SEC Tournament last week. Indiana (27-3) remains No. 2 despite losing to Ohio State in the Big Ten semifinals.
Iowa (26-6) is the biggest mover in this week’s rankings. The Hawkeyes jump up four spots to No. 3 after beating Maryland in the Big Ten semis and then trouncing Ohio State 105-72 in the championship game on Sunday.
Stanford (28-5) lost to eventual Pac-12 runner-up UCLA in the tournament semifinals, but still moved up one spot to No. 4 this week. The Cardinal swapped spots with LSU (28-2), which lost in the SEC semifinals.
ACC Tournament champion Virginia Tech (27-4) is up two spots at No. 6, followed by No. 7 Maryland and Utah (25-4) at No. 8. The Utes lost to eventual Pac-12 champion Washington State in the tournament quarterfinals. UConn (29-5) remains No. 9 after beating No. 11 Villanova in the Big East title game.
South Carolina received 750 of the maximum 800 points in the ballot. They garnered 30 of 32 first place votes. Indiana received 690 points, while Iowa tallied 668.
Two other ACC teams are in the poll. Duke (25-6) dropped two spots to No. 14 after losing to Virginia Tech in the ACC semifinals. No. 19 North Carolina (21-10) is unchanged after falling to Duke in the quarterfinals.
Notre Dame will find out its NCAA Tournament fate this Sunday night when the NCAA field is announced. The Irish are in position to host first and second round tournament games, which begin on Friday, March 17 and Saturday, March 18.
