Four Notre Dame Players Get Invites To The NFL Scouting Combine

The NFL has released a list of 319 draft prospects that were invited to the NFL Scouting Combine, and four former Notre Dame players were selected to participate.

Tight end Michael Mayer, defensive end Isaiah Foskey, offensive lineman Jarrett Patterson and safety Brandon Joseph were the four former Fighting Irish players chosen to participate in the combine.

Mayer finished his career as Notre Dame's all-time leader in catches (180), receiving yards (2,099) and receiving touchdowns (18) for a tight end. He is projected to be a first round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, but a strong showing at the scouting combine could answer the questions that do linger about Mayer.

Foskey finished his Irish career as the program's all-time leader in sacks with 26.5 for his career. He had a decent showing at the Reese's Senior Bowl, but he'll need a strong showing at the NFL Scouting Combine and the Notre Dame Pro Day in order to boost his draft stock and become a more viable first round option.

Patterson was a four-year starter at Notre Dame, locking down center during his first three seasons and then moving to left guard for the 2022 campaign. The California native was also a participant in the Senior Bowl.

Joseph had a disappointing senior season at Notre Dame after transferring in from Northwestern. The 2020 All-American started strong in the loss to Ohio State, but injuries and inconsistent play kept him from living up to expectations. The combine gives him a chance to get some momentum back from a draft profile standpoint.
