Notre Dame 2023 Preview: Breaking Down The Irish Quarterbacks

In this story:
We are less than 100 days from Notre Dame kicking off the 2023 season, and the veteran Irish players will be set to return to campus for summer workouts within the next week. It's time to ramp up the previews for the 2023 season and the Fighting Irish football team.
Today, Irish Breakdown launched its position preview series about the Notre Dame team heading into the 2023 season. It makes sense to kick things off with the quarterback position. The shows covered a lot of information and various aspects of evaluating the position, so we broke it into two parts.
NOTRE DAME QB PREVIEW - PART ONE
NOTRE DAME QB PREVIEW - PART TWO
Our quarterback preview began with more of a big picture look at things. We discuss how the quarterback play at Notre Dame has been largely sub-standard, at least from a championship standpoint. Part of that discussion involved analysis of the depth chart. Notre Dame only has three quarterbacks on the roster, which is more of an issue due to the lack of experience in the number two and number three spots on the depth chart after Notre Dame lost both Tyler Buchner and Drew Pyne this offseason.
After the big picture discussion we got specific and broke down all three quarterbacks on the roster. We spent a lot of time on Sam Hartman, breaking down his game and what he brings to the Irish offense. Expectations for Hartman in 2023 were a part of the discussion, as was the big play potential he showed at Wake Forest, and needs to display for the Fighting Irish.
Next we discussed expectations for Steve Angeli and Kenny Minchey. We talked about what we liked about both players, and the concerns we have for the 2023 season. That was followed by a conversation about where this group ranks from a confidence standpoint, and we made some bold predictions.
