Notre Dame will be without fifth-year senior center Zeke Correll tonight when the Irish take on Stanford. It will be the second straight game that Correll will miss after starting the previous 23 games.

Correll suffered a concussion prior to the Wake Forest game, which knocked him out of that contest. Head coach Marcus Freeman said that if Correll was cleared this week he would play, but he clearly has not been removed from the concussion protocol.

With Correll out, Notre Dame will once again turn to sophomore Ashton Craig, who started in his place against Wake Forest. Craig was considered a top reserve at both center and guard prior to stepping in for Correll against the Deacons. Craig has shown tremendous promise and was considered a potential starter in 2024, but now he gets another shot to gain valuable experience this season.

Craig also stepped into the lineup late against Clemson when Correll went down in that game.

Notre Dame will be without two 10-game starters along the offensive line, as right guard Rocco Spindler is also out for a second straight game after suffering a knee injury. Spindler's injury required surgery, which means his season is over, including the bowl game. Spindler was replaced by sophomore Billy Schrauth against Wake Forest, and Schrauth will also be making his second start tonight.

Craig and Schrauth both played well against the Deacons and helped fuel an offensive performance that resulted in 450 yards and 7.0 yards per play in the 45-7 win. Notre Dame's new-look offensive line will look to perform even better in the run game against Stanford. The Irish rushed for just 137 yards against Wake Forest, something the offense hopes to change against the Cardinal.
