Notre Dame Falls To No. 13 In Coaches Poll

Notre Dame (4-1) fall to No. 13 in this week’s US LBM AFCA Coaches Poll. The Fighting Irish took a four spot tumble in the ranking after falling 17-14 to Ohio State Saturday night at Notre Dame Stadium. The Buckeyes (4-0) received two first place votes and check-in at No. 3 this week. They move ahead of Florida State this week. The Seminoles needed overtime to beat Clemson 31-24

Two-time defending national champion and No. 1 Georgia received 61 of 63first-place votes to hold the top position once again. The Bulldogs are followed by Michigan, Ohio State, Florida State, Texas, USC, Penn State, Washington, Oregon, and Utah in the top 10. Alabama and LSU are both right ahead of Notre Dame at 11 and 12, respectively.

Ohio State at No. 3 and USC at No. 6 are the two highest ranked Notre Dame opponents this week. The only other Fighting Irish opponent in this week’s rankings is No. 16 Duke, who beat UConn 41-7 Saturday to remain unbeaten. The Irish travel to Wallace Wade Stadium in Durham, NC this week to play the Blue Devils, who moved up two spots this week.

Washington State is the biggest riser in this week’s rankings. The Cougars moved up seven spots to No. 17 after a 38-35 win over former unbeaten Oregon State. Colorado, which started the season with three straight wins under first-year head coach Deion Sanders, fell from No. 19 to out of the rankings after a 42-6 loss at Oregon.

Missouri, Florida, Kansas, and Kansas State all entered the top 25 this week. Iowa, Clemson and UCLA all joined Colorado falling out of this week’s rankings.
