Marcus Freeman Updates Injuries Ahead Of Wake Forest Matchup

In this story:
Bye weeks are usually a time for teams to get healthy before their next game. Notre Dame came out of its second bye week of the season with a handful of players who were questionable to play in this Saturday’s home finale against Wake Forest. Irish head coach Marcus Freeman updated their status on Thursday in his final media session before Saturday’s game.
"The only guy that still is questionable is Zeke (Correll),” Freeman said. "He’s still in concussion protocol. He’s done some non-contact but he has not been able to do contact yet. He hasn’t cleared concussion protocol.”
Correll has started all 10 games at center for the Irish this season. While Rocco Spindler, who is out for the rest of the season with a knee injury, has started all 10 games at right guard. Freeman laid out the plan for those two spots earlier this week.
'What we would do right now is you will see how we finished the (Clemson) game with Billy Schrauth coming in at the right guard position and then Ashton Craig did a really good job filling in at the center position,” Freeman explained. "I was really impressed with what he did.”
Freeman said earlier this week that fellow interior offensive lineman Andrew Kristofic had a high ankle sprain and wide receiver Jayden Thomas was still working through hamstring issues that began prior to Notre Dame’s Sept. 30 game at Duke.
Thomas missed that game and then played in Notre Dame’s next three games before missing the Clemson game two weeks ago. Freeman indicated that both Thomas and Kristofic, who has played in a reserve role in all 10 games this season, are available for Saturday’s game.
Freeman did not specify Spindler’s injury earlier this week, but he said on Thursday that the junior has an MCL injury.
"It’s not an ACL where you’re out for six to eight, six to nine months. We expect him to be back for spring ball. I don’t know if he’ll be a hundred percent full-go for spring ball, just because you’re going to miss some of the winter conditioning phase. But we expect to see him back as we get ready for spring.”
