Notre Dame moved up a spot in the latest Associated Press Poll after its convincing 45-24 victory over NC State. The 3-0 Fighting Irish are now ranked No. 9 in the AP Poll.

It was Notre Dame's third straight blowout victory, and first over a Power 5 opponent. Through three games Notre Dame has outscored its opponents 143-30, an average score of 47.7 to 10.0.

The Irish have actually now scored at least 40 points in four straight games dating back to the 2022 season.

Notre Dame is now ahead of Alabama, who fell all the way to No. 10 after losing 34-24 at home against Texas. The Longhorns jumped from No. 11 to No. 4 in the rankings, but Notre Dame still rose because it also leaped Tennessee, who fell from No. 9 to No. 11 after a sloppy 30-13 victory over Austin Peay.

Four different teams received first place votes. No. 1 Georgia received the most with 55, but No. 2 Michigan (2), No. 3 Florida State (3) and No. 4 Texas (2) also received first place votes.

Three Notre Dame opponents rank in the latest AP Top 25 rankings. Ohio State fell to No. 6 in the rankings after a 35-7 win over Youngstown State. USC leaped Ohio State after its dominant 56-10 win over Stanford. Duke remains at No. 21 after beating Lafayette by a 42-7 score.

Notre Dame faces the Buckeyes in two weeks (September 23rd) in a rematch of last season's season opener, a game Ohio State won 21-10. A week later the Irish head to Durham to take on the Blue Devils, a team they have not faced since 2019. Notre Dame hosts USC on October 14th as the Irish look to make up for last season's 38-27 loss in Los Angeles.
