Notre Dame Ranks 13th In The AP Preseason Poll

The Associated Press Poll was released today and Notre Dame ranked 13th in the preseason list. Notre Dame also ranked 13th in the USA TODAY Coaches Poll that was released last week.

Notre Dame began the 2022 season ranked 5th in the AP Poll but fell out two weeks later. The Irish didn't get back into the Top 25 until after they dominated then 4th-ranked Clemson in November, beating the Tigers by a 35-14 score. Notre Dame finished the 2022 season ranked 18th in the AP Poll.

The last time Notre Dame ranked 13th in the AP preseason poll was 1988, the last year Notre Dame won a national championship. The Fighting Irish ranked 12th (2018) and 10th (2020) in the preseason AP Polls the two times they earned a berth to the College Football Playoff.

Three Notre Dame opponents also ranked in the poll, with all three in the Top 10. Ohio State ranked 4th, USC ranked 6th and Clemson ranked 9th.
