Notre Dame Spring Practice Report

Notre Dame held its sixth practice of the 2023 spring on Saturday, and the session was open to the media. Irish Breakdown was there to see all the action, and we had plenty of content following the session.

Here is our video breaking down the offense and defense from the practice session. That was followed by a mailbag, where Irish Breakdown listeners asked questions.

Our video began with a look at the Irish offense. We discussed the performance of quarterbacks Sam Hartman and Tyler Buchner. A star of the practice was sophomore running back Gi'Bran Payne, and in the video we explain what made him so effective. We also discussed the performance of the Fighting Irish receivers, who were led by sophomore Tobias Merriweather.

This practice gave us our most extensive look at the Notre Dame lines. On the offensive side of the ball we break down the play of sophomores Billy Schrauth and Aamil Wagner, among others. Defensively, the standouts were veteran Javontae Jean-Baptiste and Rylie Mills as well as up-and-comer Jason Onye.

Cornerback Benjamin Morrison had an outstanding day, and some freshmen on defense shined in the open session. All of that and more are what we discuss in the video.
