Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Notre Dame had its last open practice of the 2023 spring yesterday, which means it's the last time we'll see the Irish in action prior to the April 22nd Blue-Gold Game. Following the practice we broke down what we saw on both sides of the ball.

Here's our post-practice analysis of the Notre Dame offense and defense, and we wrapped things up with a mailbag.

OFFENSE REPORT

DEFENSE REPORT

We kicked things off with a breakdown of the quarterbacks, discussing what we saw from senior Sam Hartman and junior Tyler Buchner. Both had their moments, but Buchner was more consistent during the open session. Next we talked about the receivers, with a focus on Tobias Merriweather and Deion Colzie, the freshmen, and Lorenzo Styles getting action at cornerback.

On defense, we discuss what we saw from the linemen, including standouts Rylie Mills and Jason Onye. Veteran linebackers JD Bertrand and Jack Kiser had strong practices, as did sophomore Nolan Ziegler. On the back end of the defense we broke down what we saw from young corners Jaden Mickey and Chance Tucker.

Notre Dame also released a tweet after practice. In the video, Notre Dame defensive line coach Al Washington was mic'd up for the practice. Here's that video with Coach Washington.
