Notre Dame Moves Up To No. 11 In The New USA TODAY Coaches Poll

Notre Dame (2-0) is up two spots to No. 11 in the week one USA Today Coaches Poll Top 25. The Fighting Irish picked up a Week Zero win over Navy to open the season followed by their Week one win over Tennessee State. The two wins were by a combined 98-6 total.

The top four teams in this week’s poll remain the same. No. 1 Georgia received 63 of 66 first-place votes. The Bulldogs are followed by Michigan, Alabama and Ohio State at No. 2, 3 and 4, respectively.

Florida State moves up three spots to No. 5 this week after Sunday’s 45-24 win over then No. 5 LSU, which falls nine spots to No. 14. Southern Cal, Penn State, Washington, Tennessee, and Texas round out the top 10.

Ohio State and USC are the two highest ranked Notre Dame opponents this week. Another Irish opponent, Duke, enters the top 25 this week at No. 24 after Monday’s upset of another Irish opponent, formerly No. 9 Clemson. The Tigers took a tumble to No. 21 after the loss to the Blue Devils.

Colorado also enters the poll this week at No. 25 after stunning former No. 16 Texas Christian in Deion Sanders’ debut as a Power Five head coach. The Horned Frogs fell out of this week’s rankings after earning the program’s first College Football Playoff appearance last season.
