Notre Dame Opponent Preview: Tennessee State Tigers

The 13th-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish (1-0) are back in the states and have their home opener this weekend when the Tennessee State Tigers come to town. Notre Dame will look to win its second game of the season and eighth win in their last nine games.

HEAD COACH: Eddie George

Record: 9-13 (third season)

George enters his third season at Tennessee State, which was his first coaching job. George inherited a program that had won just five games in the two previous seasons, but the former Ohio State running back has won nine games in two seasons. The Tigers had several competitive losses last season and George will look to take the next step in year three.

George won the Heisman Trophy in 1995 and was a first round draft pick of the Houston Oilers in 1996. George finished his career with 10,441 yards and 68 touchdowns. George rushed for 1,368 yards and eight scores as a rookie in 1996, which earned him the Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
