Notre Dame Post-Game Show: Irish Dominate NC State

Notre Dame (3-0) went on the road for its toughest challenge of the season so far, and the Fighting Irish passed that test with flying colors. Notre Dame shook off a slow start and a long weather delay to earn a hard fought and convincing 45-24 victory over NC State.

The Fighting Irish scored 21 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to turn a 24-17 game into a rout, which gave Notre Dame its third straight win of the season, and 9th win in the last 10 games.

After the victory the Irish Breakdown team got together and broke down what we saw in the win.

PART I - Overall, Offense

In part one of the breakdown the discussion is about the overall impact of the victory and what the Notre Dame team showed. There was plenty of talk about head coach Marcus Freeman, but when we got into the offense quarterback Sam Hartman, running back Audric Estime and tight end Holden Staes got plenty of attention.

PART II - Defense, Special Teams

Part two of the show focused on the play of the Irish defense, which played a huge role in the victory. The Irish defensive tackles - led by Howard Cross III and Rylie Mills - were standouts in the game, and we broke down that. It was also a great performance from linebacker Marist Liufau, and safeties Xavier Watts and DJ Brown were also standouts for the Irish. We also discussed what we liked about the game plan and play-calling from defensive coordinator Al Golden.

PART III - Mailbag

The final part of the show was the mailbag, where we answered questions from IB subscribers and listeners.
