Notre Dame Ranks 15th In The First College Football Playoff Rankings

In this story:
The first batch of College Football Playoff rankings was released tonight and Notre Dame ranked 15th.
Notre Dame is the second highest ranked 2-loss team, behind only LSU, who ranks 14th. Notre Dame lost to No. 1 Ohio State by a 17-14 score back in September, and also lost to No. 13 Louisville. Notre Dame owns a 48-20 victory over No. 20 USC.
Notre Dame's highest ranked in 2022 was also the No. 15 spot, but it took the Irish several weeks to climb to that spot after beginning unranked. Notre Dame was No. 21 in the final playoff rankings of the 2022 season.
Notre Dame has earned two playoff berths since its inception back in 2014. The Fighting Irish advanced to the CFP in 2018 and 2020, losing to Clemson and Alabama in the semi-final in those seasons, respectively.
Ohio State ranked 16th to start the 2014 playoff rankings and ultimately advanced to the tournament. That is the lowest ranked team to ever make a playoff berth.
