Upon Further Review: Final Thoughts On Notre Dame's Win Over Central Michigan

In this story:
We will take a full leap into the breakdown of the matchup between Notre Dame and Ohio State tomorrow, but before we completely turn the page the Irish Breakdown team took a final look at the Fighting Irish victory over Central Michigan.
In this breakdown we take a deep film dive into the win and discuss areas where we didn't take as deep as a look in the post-game show. We begin with the Notre Dame offense.
NOTRE DAME OFFENSE
The first part of our offensive breakdown looked at the Notre Dame run game. We were very impressed with what we saw from Gerad Parker and the Irish offensive staff. It was a creative game plan that allowed the running game to flourish. Running back Audric Estime set a career-high on rush yards, and did so while having a 72-yard touchdown called back because of a penalty.
Quarterback Sam Hartman put up big numbers in the win (16-26, 330 yards, 3 TD), but it wasn't his sharpest game. Don't get us wrong, he did some impressive things, but there were also some missed opportunities, which we discussed. We also broke down the play of the offensive line, which was better than expected after breaking things down.
NOTRE DAME DEFENSE
The second part of our show was a breakdown of the Notre Dame defense. We didn't take as deep of a dive into this unit due mainly to the fact much of what we felt after the film breakdown was pretty much what we discussed in the post-game show. We did get more specific with our examples of why the defense struggled more than it should have against an inferior CMU offensive unit.
KEYS TO VICTORY REVISITED
We wrapped the show up by looking at the keys to victory we broke down before the game, and evaluate how Notre Dame performed in each area.
