Notre Dame has been active in the state of Massachusetts under head coach Marcus Freeman, and Lawrence (Mass.) Central Catholic is certainly familiar to the Irish. Notre Dame landed talented linebacker Preston Zinter from there in the 2023 class, and the Irish are keeping tabs on a talented young signal caller that was throwing passes to Zinter this past season.

That would be 2025 standout passer Blake Hebert, a new name on Notre Dame's radar. Hebert doesn't have an offer from Notre Dame yet, but he's certainly a name to keep an eye on.

On Friday, Fighting Irish quarterbacks coach Gino Guidugli made the trip up to Central Catholic to check in on Hebert. Face-to-face contact isn't allowed, but Guidugli was able to watch the 6-3, 215-pound quarterback throw the ball around.

"Coach Guidugli got to see us work out,” Hebert told Irish Breakdown. "My guys and I ripped it around a little bit."

Notre Dame expressing interest in Hebert didn't begin with this visit to see him work out. Guidugli and the staff have had their eye on Hebert for awhile.

"We have been in contact,” Herbert stated. “He told me that it will be important to get me up to South Bend and tour the campus. I’m definitely looking forward to that.”

Hebert already has a high opinion of the Notre Dame program. Getting him up to campus is certainly an important step, but Hebert isn't new to the Irish tradition.

"Notre Dame has always been fun to watch on television,” noted the talented quarterback. "The history behind the school and football is unmatched.”

Hebert already has some insight from Zinter, an early enrollee for Notre Dame, and one of Hebert's favorite targets last season. For now, Herbert is busy preparing for a big junior season. It promises to be one to remember.

"The off-season has been really good. It’s been extremely productive,” Hebert said. "We’ve been getting after it so we’re excited for those Friday nights in September.”

As a sophomore, Hebert put together a strong season for Central Catholic. He threw for 1,748 yards and 24 touchdowns in 12 games while completing 60-percent of his passes and throwing just one interception.

Some notable programs are starting to take notice of Hebert on the recruiting side. So far he has received offers from Nebraska, Ole Miss, North Carolina, Virginia Tech, Iowa, Pittsburgh, Virginia, Boston College, Purdue, Minnesota and Rutgers among others.

From a ranking perspective, Hebert is rated very high by On3. They currently peg him as the No. 65 overall player and No. 6 quarterback in the 2025 recruiting class. All platforms who have ranked him have Hebert as the top 2025 player in the state of Massachusetts.
