CJ May Recaps “Overall Best Visit” To Notre Dame

In this story:
Another talented June visitor to Notre Dame was 2025 Highland Home (Ala.) High School defensive end CJ May, who made his first trip to Notre Dame. The talented pass rusher, who was offered back on St. Patrick’s Day during the Pot of Gold offer event, left the visit with an even higher opinion of the Irish program.
In fact, Notre Dame could not have gotten much more praise. The trip was a real eye opener.
"It was the overall best visit I’ve ever been on,” May told Irish Breakdown. "My relationship with the staff is already phenomenal. It only got stronger during this visit.”
A big reason for that massively successful trip is the Notre Dame coaches. They did a tremendous job of making May feel at home, especially Al Washington.
"Coach Washington is a great guy and I love his coaching style,” May said. "He seems incredibly genuine and shows real attention to detail as a coach.”
That visit, combined with the groundwork Notre Dame has laid since offering May, has allowed them to position themselves well against some other impressive schools. The staff has laid a clear vision for how May would fit.
My recruiting process has been great and have had “some pretty strong offers come in,” he explained. “All of my SEC schools, Notre Dame and Clemson have been the ones sticking out to me most.
"Notre Dame wants to make me the face of their program in the future and promised a successful life after college,” May continued. "They bring a lot to the table.”
May is considered a four-star recruit both on the 247Sports and On3 Industry rankings. The former has him the highest, currently pegging the Alabama native as the No. 166 overall player and No. 8 edge defender in the 2025 recruiting class.
The 6-4, 225-pound pass rusher has already garnered interest from some premier programs in college football. May currently holds offers from the Irish, Georgia, Clemson, Miami, Penn State, Tennessee, Auburn, Arkansas and South Carolina among others.
As a sophomore, May put together a quality season for Highland Home. He registered 50 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.
