Notre Dame Coaches Stop In To See 2024 Defensive Tackle Commit Sean Sevillano
On Tuesday night, several Notre Dame coaches traveled down to visit 2024 Clearwater (Fla.) Academy International defensive tackle Sean Sevillano Jr., who initially committed to the Irish back in June. Sevillano is coming off one of the most absurd statistical seasons in memory during his senior year, recording 101 total tackles, 65 tackles for loss, 14 sacks and three forced fumbles.
Now set to enroll early in January, the next couple of weeks are about finalizing everything and preparing for the next chapter. While later this month Sevillano will be official signing, the Tuesday visit was really the official welcome to the Irish family.
"It was a great visit,” Sevillano told Irish Breakdown. "It was good to have everyone over. I definitely made the right decision picking Notre Dame. Everyone had a blast.”
The Sevillano family and Notre Dame coaches had the chance to spend some time together. Laughs were had, happiness was spread and great food was shared. Needless to say the Notre Dame staff, which includes Marcus Freeman, Al Washington and Al Golden, were able to feast like kings.
"We had brisket, steak, potatoes, mac and cheese, salad and some little desserts,” said Sevillano. "The coaches ate well big time.”
Sevillano is about as driven as any athlete you are ever going to see. There are a lot of incoming freshman who have subtle expectations, with things like making a smooth transition, helping the team and improving the usual cliches you hear. Sevillano makes it very apparent, he’s coming in to play.
"I’m coming in to win a starting spot,” he said. "I’m going to work harder than anyone and earn everything I get. The grind is just beginning.”
