Notre Dame Commit Teddy Rezac Pushing For Third State Championship On Tuesday

In this story:
On Tuesday night, 2024 Omaha (Neb.) Westside star linebacker Teddy Rezac will be pushing for his second straight state championship. His dominant 12-0 Omaha Westside squad will be taking on Elkhorn South (11-1) in the NSAA State Football Championship Game at 7:15 PM eastern time.
Calling Omaha Westside dominant would be a massive understatement. En route to their 12-0 record and state championship performance, the offense has scored 500 points to average an outstanding 41.7 points per contest. They have matched that level of impact defensively, surrendering just 46 points all season. That is an average of just 3.8 points per contest. Both units have been stellar.
A big reason for that success defensively has been Rezac, he plays both safety and at linebacker at times for the Warriors. He comes into this contest with 57 total tackles, five tackles for loss, four interceptions and six pass breakups. Rezac has also hauled in two touchdowns as a wide receiver offensively.
Notre Dame fans should also keep a close eye on 2025 Westside linebacker Christian Jones, who is high on their board. Jones has collected 53 total tackles, nine tackles for loss, four pass breakups and a forced fumble. Rezac’s brother Anthony is also a standout signal caller for the team. He has been offered a preferred walk on opportunity by the Irish staff. Rezac has thrown for 2,072 yards and 29 touchdowns through the air, as well as rushing for 870 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground.
Westside will be opposed by a very talented Elkhorn South squad. Their lone loss on the season was a regular season 33-0 defeat to Millard South. The Storm got revenge last week in a rematch with Millard South, winning 24-13 to advance to the finals. They are led by two bookend offensive tackles, who are legitimate prospects in Ashton Murphy (committed to Nebraska) and Ben Gustafson (committed to Northern Illinois).
The two teams haven’t met since the 2020 state championship game. Westside came out on top during that particular game 37-21.
