Notre Dame Commit Will Black Is Working On Adding More Talented Blockers

In this story:
Joe Rudolph is off to a fast start in the 2025 recruiting class, getting in with some big time offensive lineman who are extremely high on Notre Dame so far. He already has his first commit in the class from Wallingford (Conn.) Choate Rosemary Hall offensive tackle Will Black.
The 6-7, 285-pound standout currently sits as a four-star, the No. 203 overall player and No. 14 offensive tackle in the 2025 recruiting class according to On3. Black chose the Irish over an impressive offer list, including Alabama, Michigan, Texas A&M, Florida State, Tennessee, Penn State, Nebraska, South Carolina, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Boston College, Duke, Stanford, Virginia Tech, Kansas, Syracuse and Rutgers among others.
Now that Black is locked in, he can now focus on the other key offensive line targets on the board. The first one is Waukesha (Wis.) Catholic Memorial star Owen Strebig, whom he has a great bond with already.
"Owen and I have a good relationship,” Black told Irish Breakdown. "We’ve talked several times about the future of Notre Dame and I believe we could do great things together.”
Things are in a tremendous place between Strebig and the Irish. The 6-8, 290-pound offensive tackle has visited South Bend six different times, most recently for Junior Day two weekends ago. As of today, Notre Dame is viewed as the front runner. If things end sometime in the near future, they will be hard to beat.
Another top target on the board is Greenwich (Conn.) Brunswick School star Matty Augustine, who also visited for Junior Day as well. As it turns out, Black and Augustine have a tremendous relationship. It makes sense considering they are both from Connecticut.
“Matty and I play in the same league here in Connecticut,” Black explained. “We also camped at Notre Dame together and got offered at the same time. We camped at Michigan and Alabama as well. I’ve got a pretty good relationship with Matty overall.”
The Irish should once again be considered as potentially the favorite for Augustine, who Notre Dame has been pushing for since they offered last offseason. He is interested in doing his homework at other schools and not rushing the process. You can bet that having Black in Notre Dame’s corner definitely doesn’t hurt their chances.
The last key target, but certainly not least, is Eureka (Mo.) High School offensive tackle Jack Lange. After his recent visit for Junior Day, Notre Dame has ascended to the top spot for the Missouri native.
While Black does not know Lange quite as well yet, he does have a great option of him early on.
"I’ve only talked to Jack once but he seems like a cool guy,” Black said. “He is a similar person to me both on and off the field.”
Rudolph is poised to sign a potentially elite offensive line class in 2025. They are viewed as the favorite for all four offensive lineman listed, which would be a ridiculous overall haul.
