Cornerback Cree Thomas Is Set For Decision Day He Will Always Remember

In this story:
Since first offering 2025 Phoenix (Az.) Brophy College Prep cornerback Cree Thomas during the Pot of Gold offer event on St. Patrick’s Day, Notre Dame has made the Arizona star a big priority. The staff has continued to push over the last two months, recently getting two visits from Thomas for the USC and Pittsburgh games.
Got three week span was important for Thomas, who seemed to be inching closer and closer to making a decision. On Saturday, he made it known that a decision was indeed on the horizon. The plan is for Thomas to make his announcement on Monday, November 20th at 5:30 PM eastern time.
In honor of my Grandfather who passed away on November 20th, I will be announcing my college decision on that day! Turning a negative day for my family into a positive! See you at Brophy Live on 247sports!! Thank you God! #bst @jason247scout @FootballBrophy @BrophyAthletics pic.twitter.com/6OsITLzd8E

With the timing of everything, it’s hard not to feel good about Notre Dame’s chances. Regardless of whether the Irish are the pick, that day is sure to be a special one for Thomas. That date is a special one.
"That day means a lot to me,” Thomas told Irish Breakdown. "That’s the day my grandfather passed away and I really wanted him to be a part of the decision. He was one of my biggest role models, and one of my best friends. He provided such a great support system for me and was just a great person.
"He’s a big reason why I wear the No. 20,” he continued. "It’s to honor the day he passed away. That 20 connection has always been there and helps me feel close to him. He’s one of the big reasons why I play football.”
Thomas wears his heart on his sleeve, and his grandfather's memory on his chest. The recruiting process can be a daunting one for anyone. It is his family that have really been able to help him through the chaos.
"My family has meant everything to me, and are a huge part of this decision making process,” he explained. "They really helped me throughout the process and made sure I wasn’t getting too overwhelmed. Them, along with God, really helped me to stay grounded.”
Thomas has no intention of hiding his admiration for the Notre Dame program before he makes the decision next week. They are, and have been, a top contender for him.
"Notre Dame is one of the most storied programs in college football so it would be amazing to play on that stage of football,” Thomas said. "The coaches have told me that I am a top priority in their recruitment and that will be huge when it comes time for me to decide where I go to college.”
Notre Dame has made Thomas a priority early. The last time they pulled a talented cornerback out of Brophy Prep, it worked out pretty well.
Whether at cornerback or safety, Thomas would be a tremendous addition to the Notre Dame program. As a player, student and person, Thomas fits exactly what the Irish staff are looking for.
The Arizona native had quickly attracted the attention of several prominent PAC 12 schools, including holding offers from Oregon, Arizona State, Arizona and Cal early on. Thomas also holds offers from the Fighting Irish, Wisconsin and Purdue among others.
The 6-1, 170-pound cornerback is coming off of a outstanding sophomore campaign for Brophy College Prep. Thomas locked down one of the cornerback positions, finishing the season with 33 total tackles, one interception and six pass breakups. He also added in 1.5 tackles for loss and a half of a sack, while also being the team’s main kick and punt returner.
So far as a junior, Thomas has been even better. Through 11 games, he has collected 34 total tackles, five interceptions and four more pass breakups. One of his interceptions was returned for a touchdown.
