Dynamic Defender Anthony Sacca Enjoyed Notre Dame Visit

In this story:
Notre Dame has been in the business of adding length and athleticism to their defense. There aren’t many players who possess those traits at a higher level than 2025 Philadelphia (Pa.) St. Joseph’s defender Anthony Sacca, who projects favorably as a rover in the Irish system.
Sacca, who has a nice opinion of Notre Dame early on, is fresh off of a return trip to campus this past weekend during their battle with Ohio State. This was Sacca’s first gameday, which did not disappoint.
"It was a great time,” Sacca told Irish Breakdown. "It wasn’t exactly how most people wanted the game to end but you can say I enjoyed it until the very last second. The game was a lot of fun. The crowd was bumping and got the chance to get the true Irish experience.”
Sacca’s father, Tony Sacca, was a college teammate of Notre Dame defensive coordinator Al Golden at Penn State. With that connection, the Philadelphia native has developed a great relationship with Coach Golden. This trip was more about building relationships with the other coaches for the Irish.
"It was good to see Al and Coach (Max) Bullough,” Sacca said. "Also talking to Coach (Marcus) Freeman was nice. They’re all great guys.”
Coming into the visit, Notre Dame and Penn State were in good standing. That remained true for the Irish leaving the trip. They promise to be in it until the very end.
"They’re definitely up there,” he said. "They’ll be in the final discussions most likely when it comes to decision day.”
Sacca is considered as a four-star recruit by 247Sports, ESPN and Rivals, with Rivals ranking him as the nation's No. 83 overall player, No. 6 linebacker and No. 2 player in the state of Pennsylvania.
The 6-3, 225-pound defender currently holds an impressive offer list, rivaling any recruit in the class. Some of the notable programs who have extended offers include the Irish, Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, USC, Miami, Tennessee, Oregon, Texas A&M, Florida State, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Kentucky, South Carolina, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech and Rutgers among others.
The Pennsylvania standout is coming off of a standout sophomore campaign for St. Joseph’s Prep, who finished 12-1 with a state championship. Despite boasting an impressive combination of size and length, Sacca played on the back end at safety for the team. He ended the year with 49 total tackles, one interception, a forced fumble and another fumble recovery.
