There is little question that 2025 Waukesha (Wis.) Catholic Memorial offensive tackle Owen Strebig is an absolute priority for the Notre Dame staff. Having made three trips to campus this off-season, Strebig is also clearly high on the Irish.

The most recent visit to South Bend took place during the “Grill and Chill” recruiting cookout last month. That particular visit was a chance to solidify Notre Dame’s standing with Strebig, and it did just that.

"Going into this last visit, Notre Dame was already one of my top schools,” Strebig told Irish Breakdown. "Being able to spend the day with the coaches and other recruits on campus, it really just confirmed it. There is no question that Notre Dame will be in it until the very end.”

Funny enough, the day after that recruiting event, the dead period officially ended. That gave coaching staffs across college football the opportunity to reach out directly to the 2025 recruiting class. Notre Dame wasted no time making contact with the Wisconsin mauler.

“It was the first day when the dead period ended, I heard from Notre Dame right at midnight,” Strebig said. “Between texts, calls and FaceTime, I’ve talked to the staff probably every day since then.”

One thing the staff has continued to stress to Strebig is how they potentially see him fit. The 6-8, 290-pound tackle is looked at as a foundation for 2025.

"Notre Dame sees me as a perfect fit for the program,” he explained. "They believe that I am a building block for the 2025 class. They think that I could excel as a player but I also can be a big help to recruit the rest of the class. The staff thinks I can be one of the main leaders for the class.”

One of the big reasons why Notre Dame has separated themselves is the coach relationships. That starts and ends with Joe Rudolph, who has been developing the relationship with Strebig for a long time now.

"I first heard from Coach Rudolph when I was a freshman and he was at Wisconsin,” Strebig said. "Then obviously he went to Virginia Tech but our relationship kicked back up this winter. He is such a great person and an excellent coach. Everyone just thinks so highly of him.”

When you consider the criteria that Strebig is looking for, it’s easy to see why Notre Dame is in such a strong position.

"There are three things that I am really looking for,” he stated. "One, the degree. I want to be set up for life after football ends. Two, the relationships. It’s about what type of people I’m around, both coaches and players. Feeling like you’re a part of something great is important. Third, it’s about development. What is the track record of the school to develop offensive lineman? I want to be able to chase my dream to play in the NFL.”

As of now, Strebig is planning on letting the process play out. He is going to make game visits this season, including when Notre Dame takes on Ohio State on September 23rd.

He also does want to take his official visits after the season, wanting to make a sound decision without potential of a decommitment. Regardless, Notre Dame is right at the top for Strebig, continuing to build more and more momentum.

Strebig has received offers from the Fighting Irish, Michigan, USC, Florida, Penn State, Florida State, UCLA, Stanford, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Nebraska, Kentucky, Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Purdue, Kansas and Indiana among others. Strebig is quickly becoming one of the elite level offensive lineman in the 2025 class.

Strebig is considered a four-star recruit across every major recruiting ranking. He currently sits as the No. 40 overall player and the No. 5 offensive tackle in the 2025 recruiting class according to On3 ranking.
