Notre Dame Keeping Close Tabs On California Quarterback Bear Bachmeier

Standout 2025 quarterback Bear Bachmeier gives insight into his early relationship with Notre Dame

If the name Bachmeier rings any bells, you have probably seen a Boise State game over the last several seasons. Their starting quarterback for the majority of his Bronco career, Hank Bachmeier left the program this off-season after throwing for 6,605 yards and 41 touchdowns in four years.

He is now off to greener pastures with the Louisiana Tech program but soon enough, he won’t be the only Bachmeier playing major college football. That includes his younger brother Tiger, who was a standout 2023 wide receiver who signed with Stanford.

There is also another quarterback in the family, Bear Bachmeier, who is a 2025 for Murrieta (Calif.) Valley. Last week, Notre Dame quarterback coach Gino Guidugli spent some time at the school. Although communication is extremely limited in these school visits, Guidugli seems to have made a really nice early impression on the California passer, amongst a heavy amount of interest so far as well.

“It’s been a little hectic,” Bachmeier told Irish Breakdown. “It’s just beginning to really ramp up this spring. Coach Guidugli stopped by the school last week. He seems like a really cool guy.

“I’m really glad that he stopped by the school,” he continued. “Coach really has a great perspective on the recruiting process that he was able to share with my coaches. He seems like a really authentic person.”

Bachmeier and his coach are sitting down soon to finalize some trips this Summer. It’s possible that Notre Dame could be one of them, even without offering Bachmeier as of yet. It’s a place that he has already been introduced to.

“I actually had the chance to visit Notre Dame with my brother but that was probably about two years ago now,” he stated. “The trip was awesome though. It’s a beautiful campus.”

Whether Bachmeier is added to the quarterback board or not, he is further proof to the diligence that Coach Guidugli is showing on the quarterback trail. If there’s talent out there, he’ll find it and he may have found even more in the talented signal caller out West.

Bachmeier is well thought of from a recruiting ranking perspective. He currently sits as a consensus four-star on every major recruiting platform. On3 currently sees him the highest, pegged as the No.103 overall player and No. 9 quarterback in the 2025 recruiting class.

The California standout has been hearing from several standout programs. Some of his notable scholarship offers include Michigan, Oregon, Utah, Colorado, Stanford, Oregon State, Washington State and BYU among others.

The 6-2, 205-pound signal caller was a dominant football player as a sophomore. As the team’s starting quarterback, Bachmeier threw for 2,853 yards and 26 touchdowns. He completed an absurd 73 percent of his passes and only threw four interceptions on the season.

As a runner, Bachmeier was equally as dangerous. He rushed for 644 and 18 touchdowns, doing so on just 47 carries. That is an insane 13.7 yards per carry.
