Notre Dame Looking Strong For Nebraska Linebacker Christian Jones

Notre Dame seems to be hitting up the state of Nebraska with a bit more frequency, and the Irish are looking to get back into the state in 2025. Notre Dame landed a 2024 commitment from Omaha (Neb.) Westside linebacker Teddy Rezac, and now the Irish are looking at one of his teammates, and that would be big time 2025 linebacker Christian Jones.

Already considered one of the top linebackers in 2025, Jones is very much on the Notre Dame radar. In fact, the Irish program is sitting near the top of his leader board early on.

"Nebraska, Oklahoma and Notre Dame have done a good job recruiting me lately,” Jones told Irish Breakdown. "They have been super consistent and have made me feel like a priority.”

Two things are standing out most about Notre Dame. One is the coaches, who have been making Jones feel wanted. The other big area is the overall pitch, which is a pretty easy sell.

"Our relationship is developing really well,” Jones said. “We are just getting to know the coaches and them getting to know me right now. It’s the conversations beyond football that have been really fun.

“I would say Notre Dame stands out in how rich the traditions they have are and how academically you will get a good degree,” he added. "They really provide everything you need.”

Right now, Jones is fully focused on the 2023 season and defending the team’s state championship. Visits will come, although those haven’t been finalized yet.

"Recruiting has been going great,” said Jones. "As of right now there aren't that many important dates coming up, but that could change. I’m talking about taking some visits and getting out on the road.”

Getting Jones on campus is important for Notre Dame, but they have someone local that can continue to sell the program to Jones. With Rezac in the fold and already making an early impression on Jones, they have a chance to separate themselves in that top group.

Jones is rated as a four-star and top 100 recruit nationally by 247Sports, ESPN and Rivals. 247Sports has him pegged as the No. 62 overall player and No. 9 linebacker in the 2025 recruiting class. Both 247Sports and ESPN have Jones rated as the top recruit in the state of Nebraska.

That overall ranking matches Jones’ offer list, which is impressive. Some of the top programs who have offered him so far include Notre Dame, USC, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Michigan State, Iowa, Wisconsin, Stanford, Kansas State, Missouri, Iowa State, Boston College, Kansas and Minnesota among others.

The 6-3, 215-pound defender is coming off a tremendous season in 2022. As a sophomore, Jones was instrumental for the State Champion Westside defense. He finished with 60 total tackles, five tackles for loss, three sacks, an interception, three pass breakups and two forced fumbles.

Jones stuffed the stat sheet as a sophomore. He even contributed on offense at times, hauling in six receptions for 43 yards and a touchdown.
