Notre Dame Offers 2025 Texas Linebacker Jayden Shelton

Linebacker is a position that Notre Dame has had a tremendous impact recruiting over the last couple of years. The Irish staff hopes to continue that momentum, attracting some of the top linebackers in high school football.

On Wednesday, Notre Dame extended an offer to 2025 Dallas (Texas) South Oak Cliff linebacker Jayden Shelton. The South Oak Cliff star comes from a talent rich pool of football players in the Dallas area.

Shelton is considered as a four-star recruit on the 247Sports Composite ranking. He currently sits as the No. 295 overall player and No. 30 linebacker in the 2025 recruiting class on that ranking.

The 6-0, 200-pound defender has already secured several notable offers. Some of Shelton’s top offers so far include Notre Dame, USC, Michigan, Tennessee, Washington, Arizona State and Texas Tech among others.

As a sophomore, Shelton recorded 56 total tackles, one tackle for loss and two sacks. The talented linebacker also recorded an interception that he returned for 50 yards.

Texas has been a state that Notre Dame has made a much higher priority since Marcus Freeman took over as the head coach. That includes the 2023 recruiting cycle, where the program signed four players from the Lone Star State. That was more than Notre Dame had signed in the previous five cycles combined.
