Ohio Quarterback Jackson Smith Set For Return Trip To Notre Dame

In two straight classes, Notre Dame has received commitments from West Chester (Ohio) Lakota West star safeties Ben Minich and Taebron Bennie-Powell. That program isn’t done putting out high level talent either.

During the Irish battle against Ohio State this weekend, Notre Dame will receive a visit from talented 2027 quarterback Jackson Smith. Just a freshman, Smith has already received a scholarship offer from Kentucky. The recruiting process is new but the Ohio standout is already hearing from a host of impressive schools.

“My recruitment has been a blessing,” Smith told Irish Breakdown. “I have one offer from University of Kentucky so far. I also have interests from some other schools as well like Notre Dame. A lot of schools talked to me during my camp circuit over the summer to start and build a relationship with me.”

This actually won’t be Smith’s first trip to South Bend. This will, however, be his first visit this season. The last trip was a very, very memorable one.

“I haven’t been to South Bend in a while so I’m pretty excited and it’s a big game so the environment will be crazy,” Smith explained. “I went to the Clemson game last year and the whole stadium was going crazy.

“I’m looking forward to talking to Coach (Gino) Guidugli and keep building that relationship with him and Coach (Marcus) Freeman also,” he added.

Despite being so young, Smith has a very mature understanding for how to find the right school. He knows what he wants, as well as what he needs. Smith is wise beyond his years.

“I am looking for a school to not only develop me as a football player but a better person,” he said. I look for a school that fits my style of play and get myself into a system that I can thrive in as a quarterback and win games.”

Could Notre Dame be that school? We will have three years to figure that out.
