Pass Rusher Mylachi Williams Eyeing South Bend Trip After Offer From Notre Dame

Notre Dame added talented 2024 defensive end Mylachi Williams to the recruiting board on Tuesday

The Notre Dame 2024 recruiting board has been growing rapidly over the last few weeks. That includes the defensive line group that continues to add long and talented defenders, including on Tuesday when an offer was extended to Drexel Hill (Pa.) Monsignor Bonner defensive end Mylachi Williams.

Long and explosive as a pass rusher, Williams brings an intriguing blend of length and athleticism to the table. It has clearly captured the Irish staff’s attention and Williams was extremely excited about the opportunity.

“It was really dope to get offered by the University of Notre Dame,” Williams said. “Al Golden and Coach (Al) Washington told my coaches that they are excited about me.

“I’m planning on making the trip to South Bend over the next few months,” he continued. “It’s a place that I have never been to but seems like a place to see. The history and tradition is unmatched.”

There isn’t a firm timeline for Williams, a player that is really starting to catch buzz on the recruiting trail. Instead, he is making sure that he ends up making a very sound decision. There is no rush on his end.

Williams has made sure that he has clear criteria for selecting a school when that time does come. He knows what he wants from a school and is searching vigorously for it.

“I really want to find somewhere that I fit from every angle,” Williams said. “I want to get a good education while also playing football at the highest level. It’s about being the best version of myself on and off the field.”

The Pennsylvania star is another example that star rankings do not always tell the full story. Currently unranked by every major recruiting platform, it’s easy to miss out on an extremely talented pass rusher.

When you pull up the schools of interest, the narrative quickly changes.

It has been a busy few weeks for Williams. Despite the dead period, the Pennsylvania native has continued to pull in several impressive offers recently. Some of the notable programs who have offered him so far include the Irish, Penn State, Texas A&M, Pittsburgh, Illinois, Missouri, West Virginia, Boston College, Duke, Syracuse, and Rutgers among others.

Williams put together a tremendous junior season for Monsignor Bonner, who ended the season with an 11-3 record. The 6-5, 210-pound pass rusher ended that campaign with 50 total tackles, 25 tackles for loss and 11 sacks for the team.
