Notre Dame Prioritizing Star Cornerback Devin Williams Heading Into Return Visit

In this story:
Notre Dame is set to host a long list of outstanding recruits during their battle against Ohio State this weekend. One of the more talented players is 2025 Buford (Ga.) High School cornerback Devin Williams, who the Irish staff has been making waves with over the last few months.
Coming into the visit, this has been an all out collaborative effort to really stress to Williams how important he is potentially to the 2025 recruiting class. If you have a role on the defensive side of the football for the Irish, there’s a good chance that the Georgia star has heard from them.
"Coach (Mike) Mickens has been great,” Williams told Irish Breakdown. “I just talked to Coach Mickens, Coach (Marcus) Freeman, Coach (Al) Golden, and Coach Dre Brown earlier this week.
"I’ve talked to Coach Freeman a couple of times and love his vibe,” he continued. "Coach Dre Brown is real and I love talking to him also. I feel really good about the Notre Dame coaches.”
With this being such a big time for Notre Dame, a lot of the recruits are very eager to see how the team does on the big stage. Williams is excited for some great on field action, as well as feeling the excitement in the air.
"I am very eager to see both teams in action up close,” he explained. "It is an elite game with elite athletes on the field. I will be paying attention to the defensive scheme and coaches’ temperature.
"Also, I am eager to see what a big game environment is like,” Williams added. "I went to the Alabama-Texas game and it was crazy. I can't wait to experience this also.”
This off-season Notre Dame has really made some tremendous progress with Williams. Some of the elite programs in all of college football are pursuing the talented cover man, which is eventually going to lead to a very difficult decision.
"Recruiting has been going well,” said Williams. "Surprisingly, most of the schools that have offered have been in contact. That’s what is making this so hard. It’s great to be wanted, but I have to somehow narrow this down. Everyone has been in touch multiple times, so it’s difficult.”
For Notre Dame to have a legitimate chance with Williams in the end, they will need to continue impressing him when they have him in person. This game against Ohio State offers a great opportunity to show the Georgia native just how special the Irish program can be.
My plan is to cut my list of teams down to five or so by early spring. I’ll do official visits to those schools then make a decision early summer.
Williams is considered a consensus four-star and top 100 recruit by every major recruiting platform. He ranks currently as the No. 70 overall player and No. 6 cornerback in the 2025 recruiting class according to the On3 Industry ranking. That also has him pegged as the No. 12 player from the state of Georgia, a state that puts out a silly amount of talent each year.
The 5-10, 155-pound cornerback is being pursued by some of the top programs in all of college football. Some of his notable offers include Notre Dame, Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, Tennessee, Florida State, Penn State, Texas, Florida, Auburn, Texas A&M, Arkansas, NC State, Colorado, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Michigan State, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Duke and Georgia Tech among others.
The Buford standout is also a standout track and field athlete for the school’s team. As a sophomore, he posted personal bests of 10.65 seconds in the 100 meter dash and 21.4 seconds in the 200. That speed and explosiveness translates over to the football field in a big way.
