A flurry of offers have been extended by Notre Dame over the last few weeks, mostly focusing on the 2024 recruiting class. The Irish staff has also been giving attention to the talented 2025 class, including extending an offer to Miami (Fla.) Belen Jesuit Prep defensive tackle Davion Dixon.

You would be hard pressed to find a more impressive defensive lineman in the 2025 recruiting class than Dixon, who has the look of a future five-star recruit down the line. As you could imagine, there has been heavy interest in Dixon as a result.

That included Notre Dame, who has made a great early impression on the Florida star.

"I was very proud to have received an offer from Notre Dame,” Dixon said. "I've been working very hard in school and in sports for years, so it felt really good. Their program is as big as it gets. It's a huge deal for me to have their support and interest and to receive the offer from Coach (Al) Washington.”

Dixon has added Notre Dame to an already impressive offer list. He has received interest from some of the better programs on the Power Five level.

"My recruiting has been getting busy this year,” he explained. "I currently have 18 verbal scholarship offers. I've been recruited heavily by the ACC and Big Ten but I also have SEC and Big 12 offers as well. Florida State, Florida, Nebraska, Penn State, and Auburn are some notable schools who express real interest in me.”

As it turns out, this is not Dixon’s first introduction to the Notre Dame program. They are also a school who have appealed very well to his family early on.

"I was at Notre Dame last year,” said Dixon. "I was invited to participate in their lineman day my freshman year. I did pretty good and got to meet Coach (Marcus) Freeman. My parents and I toured the school and my dad loves the history of Notre Dame. It was a special trip.”

Over the next few months, it promises to be very busy for the Dixon family. With so many schools trying to get into the fold, making school visits is a priority over the spring and summer.

"I'm planning on going with my coach and teammates to some schools this summer and my dad is planning on taking me to Nebraska at some point,” he said. "I will definitely be trying to get back to South Bend soon.

"I'm looking for a school with strong academics and NFL caliber development and preparation,” Dixon continued. "That's why we all play right? We all want to go all the way. Tradition and community support are also very important. I want to go where I'm wanted and not just another name on a roster. I believe in what I have to offer and wherever I go, I’m coming to help win big games.”

Dixon was an absolute menace as a sophomore. He finished second on the team with 70 total tackles, while also recording 33 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks. Dixon also posted 24 quarterback hurries, broke up five passes, forced a fumble, recovered another and blocked a kick.

Despite only being sophomore, Dixon continues to hear from some of the top programs in college football. The 6-2, 305-pound defender has received offers from the Irish, Florida, Nebraska, Penn State, Florida State, Auburn, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Louisville, West Virginia, and Syracuse among others.
