A lot was expected of 2025 Scottsdale (Ariz.) Notre Dame Prep record setting wide receiver Cooper Perry heading into his junior season. The Notre Dame target sits as one of the more productive pass catchers in the country regardless of class. That comes after a sophomore campaign where he set program records for receiving touchdowns.

Perry went into the weekend getting off to a hot start. When you ask him about the season to date, however, the main talking point is what the team is trying to accomplish.

“We’re 1-1 right now and have a big game this weekend out in San Diego,” Perry told Irish Breakdown. “Our one loss was to a top two team in the state but we battled hard but came out a little short 35-28. We played really well, just something to build off of. We did everything right but get the W.

“As a team, we have high expectations,” he continued. “We all want to be playing our best football when it matters most and hopefully brings back a state championship to Notre Dame Prep. We have the playoffs circled on this year’s schedule and we intend to make some noise.”

If the Saints are able to make noise in the playoffs, Perry will be a big reason for it. He has already made his impact felt in a big way so far this season.

“I had four touchdowns in the first game and then three more in the second game,” Perry explained. That doesn’t include three others that I had called back because of penalties. I think I’m over 300 yards so far as well. I’m playing well but really want to just do whatever the team needs from me. Catch the ball, run in, throw it, return kicks, punt, whatever they need.”

Perry has individual goals of course but the team always outweighs them. Despite some key losses from last year’s 11-2 squad, the junior believes this team has what it takes to accomplish something special.

“As for our team goals, I’m feeling great about it,” he said. “We had a lot of seniors leave from last season. That’s just an opportunity for others to step up. I was playing almost exclusively outside last year but am moving around a lot more this year. Nobody knew who I was last year. Now I have a target on my back so I’ve had to find different ways to score.”

Perry is a very important wide receiver target in the 2025 recruiting class. His impact so far as a junior is a big reason why the Irish are fans of the talented pass catcher. He is one of the most dominant players at his position nationally.

Perry is putting together an extremely impressive offer list which continues to expand. He has been extended offers from the Fighting Irish, Oregon, Kentucky, Michigan State, UCLA, Utah, Washington, Houston, Arizona, Louisville, Wisconsin, Boston College, Cal, Kansas and Arizona State among others thus far.

The rankings are also very promising for Perry. He ranks as a four-star by all of 247Sports, Rivals and ESPN. The latter has Perry the highest, sitting as the No. 138 overall player and No. 18 wide receiver in the 2025 recruiting class.

The 6-2, 190-pound pass catcher put together a dynamic season as a sophomore for Notre Dame Prep. He hauled in 78 receptions for 1,100 yards and 20 touchdowns. Perry also ran the ball six times for 81 yards and another score on the ground.

The Arizona native isn’t just a premier on the football field. He is also an incredible lacrosse talent, being selected as a two time Under Armour All-American selection.
